The first thankful Thursday

  >> I’m thankful for our little Coppy.  When we got him, one of my “rules” was not to become those puppy parents that think their dog is their kid.  But we sure do love him!  He makes us laugh all the time. But that one time… he kinda broke my heart.  He always gets a little sad when we’re packing up and he knows we’re leaving.  But this specific time, he jumped in the driver’s seat.  “You’re not leaving without physically moving me.”  Poor guy. >>We left anyway because we were headed to the beach with Katrina and Angelo.… Read More

Our story: the engaged life

If you’ve missed any of the pieces of our story, no worries.  You can catch up on part one, part two, part three and part four. Engaged life was really fun for us but also very busy.  Let me recap: David was living and working in Chapel Hill; I was living in Hickory and working a few minutes down the road in Maiden.  We were 2+ hours apart and David often worked on the weekends. Early December 2009, David got a job in Hickory and moved back to the area where he grew up. I was coaching high school basketball… Read More

Two ways {plus a few} to be bootie-licious

Is my body too bootylicious for ya, babe? {I know, it’s stuck in your head now.  Sorry.  Or your welcome.  Depending on which way you look at it.}  As much as I love some throwback music and  Destiny’s Child… I’m not talking about that kind of bootylicious.  I had my mind more on these… If this doesn’t convince you to rock some ankle boots… what will?  You can wear them with pants, dresses, skirts, shorts… oh my gosh, the list is endless. Like the idea of wearing something more than one way?  Check out more two ways to wear. And… Read More

November goals

First of all, how is it November already?  In case you missed it, I posted on Saturday about the Liebster award, a blogging consultation and thankful Thursdays. Second… take a look back at my October goals.  Here’s a recap… 1.  We are in the routine of doing devotions together every morning.  I wish we had started this so much sooner.  This month, we spent most of our mornings reading a few pages from Power in Praise.  One chapter was kinda weird but the rest of it was on point.  It was such good reminder to be thankful for everything…… Read More

{Saturday surprise} Three in one

{one | an award} Kelly at Familiar Joy nominated me for an award that I didn’t even know existed.  Cool, right?  {Thanks girl!}  Kelly has four adorable kids and she posts lots of great family and fashion ideas.  She started blogging a couple of weeks before I did  and found me through a comment I left on Shay’s blog.  She’s also a teacher and coach’s wife.  {No idea how she does it all!}  She was the first follower {at least that I knew of} that wasn’t a friend or family member.  {So, she made me feel like a real blogger.}  And… Read More

Oh heyyyy, Friday

Here’s a few things that made me smile this week. Chipotle for dinner Friday night.  My love for chipotle might be a little too intense. #canihavechipotleonceaweek I’ve always been a sports fan.  Thanks to my dad and brother, basketball, football and baseball kinda dominated the TV at our house.  But the last year or two I’ve been into football way more than normal.  Peyton Manning is my guy in the NFL.  We watch him every Sunday.  And Tennessee is my college team.  Their record is terrible right now but they’re one of those teams that are one or two plays away… Read More

Two ways to wear mixed patterns

My fashion inspiration comes from flipping through InStyle, scrolling through Pinterest or {lezzzbehonest} most often, checking out someone else’s outfit.  Here’s what I’ve noticed recently:  mixing patterns takes an outfit to a whole new level.  It’s like it creates this new interest in the outfit.  A new dynamic to the outfit.  In my opinion, it looks best with layers.  But then again, maybe I’m just a little obsessed because everything I post recently is about layers.  Pulling off this look can take a little bit of skill.  You don’t want to come out looking like you did on tacky day… Read More

Bloglovin’

Ok, here’s a brand new experiment… bear with me a second… Follow my blog with Bloglovin For all you bloglovers, bloglovin’ is a way to organize all the blogs you follow.  So I’m attempting to claim mine.  We’ll see how this works. Update: the experiment worked!  I now have a bloglovin’ button over there to the right.  {And you should totally use it.  Just sayin’} And if you don’t have a bloglovin‘ account, you should totally create one if you follow multiple blogs. And now I have to go to work.  Peace out.  {Also… I should probably stop saying “totally” so… Read More

Our {love} story: castles, rainbows and a bag of chips

Check out part I, part II and part III if you need to get caught up. Sometime during 2009, I decided that David need to take me to the Biltmore house. How had I lived two hours from this place my entire life and never been to visit?  So, I literally brought it up like every 4.5 seconds.  We heard Biltmore commercials on the radio non-stop and David would always roll his eyes at me.  We were driving to Atlanta for Thanksgiving that year and saw several billboard signs advertising the Biltmore.  I’m telling you, it was reminding us at… Read More

Pinspiration

This outfit makes me so happy!  Remember this post? My goal was to incorporate the chambray shirt with something over and under it.  Friday afternoon, I accomplished that goal.  This is something I would have never come up with on my own but I LOVE how it turned out.  Thanks, Pinterest! Need some chambray shirt inspiration?  I posted about it here and here. Also?  This is post number 50!  Thanks for following me in this journey.  It means more to me than you know!
