A mashup: thankful Thursday + our {love} story

Today marks the third straight thankful Thursday.  It’s also the next step in our {love} story.  {Two of my favorite things in one place.} July 24, 2010 was hands down, without a doubt, the best day of my life. And for that I’m so thankful!  Thankful to every single person who played a role in making every wedding-day dream come true.  Yes, there were {small} bumps along the road.  But the day was filled with our favorite people in the entire world, a party, and at the end of the day, we were starting a new life together. But before… Read More

Because life revolves around scarves…

I just can’t seem to do a fashion post without including a scarf.  And you know how I’m branching out with my scarf-wear… because the infinity scarf every day of the week is too mundane.  So I was really pumped to style this outfit. So pumped that I’m actually dying to wear it again! In other news, we bought Copper a jacket last night because it’s been in the 30’s here so we were trying to help him stay warm.  He’s been whining for us to take it off the entire 20 minutes he’s had it on. And… Read More

Two ways to wear grey leggings

You know how some people have these great outfits that go from day to night?  And they’re like… perfect transitions from the office to the bar? Well, that’s not really my life. I mean, I two ways to wear is my jam.  {My lady jam.  Sorry, Pitch Perfect moment there.} But I’m more about the running errands/dinner out with friends kinda look.  {There’s really no weeknight barhopping in my life.} And with the holidays approaching, it usually means traveling.  Anytime I travel, I attempt to wear leggings.  They’re just so dang comfy. The best part?  I can easily go from a… Read More

The busy girl’s guide to homemade laundry detergent

Way back when, I posted about a few easy things I do to save money.  Homemade laundry detergent has been on that list for about a year.  It’s honestly something I never thought I would do because it sounds complicated. {Newsflash: it’s not.} It takes about 10 minutes to make and it lasts for more than a month. I started realizing that even buying the big jugs at Sam’s didn’t last us very long.  So I did a little research on Pinterest and found that it was something I could tackle.  My mom decided to jump on board, too.  She… Read More

This week, I actually remembered to use my camera

Can my entire post of favorite moments come from this past weekend? No?  Ok… at least 3 of the 5 then. Yesterday I mentioned Megan’s taliban scarf from the 5k.  This was the 5k I was hoping to run.  Although that had to be modified, we had so much fun.  Katrina and I did “interval training.”  {Which is a fancy way of saying we jogged… until we got tired.  And then we walked.  Then a little bit later, we’d pick it up and jog again.} #intervaltraining And after the 5k, we went to brunch.  And had mimosas. And after all… Read More

Today I’m thankful for…

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays.  I love the idea behind taking time out of our schedules to be thankful.  And eat.  And hang out with family.  I know there’s more hoopla that comes with Christmas but Thanksgiving is something special to me.  Last week, I told you all about our fabulous vacation.  But this week I’m scaling it back a touch.  Here are some random, every-day things that I often take for granted.  But today… I’m thankful for them! Today, I’m thankful… >> for a garage that my car stays nice and warm inside.  {Mostly, I’m thankful that… Read More

Two ways to wear: scarf edition

This week’s two ways to wear comes with a bit of a twist.  One of my students/basketball players told me the other day… “Hoots, you always wear a scarf.”  Yes.  Yes, I do. And I’m always looking for new ways to wear them.  {Ways that look nothing like Megan’s 5k idea.} More on that later. Back to my outfit and two actual ways to wear a scarf.  Because I wouldn’t let Megan out of the house in her getup.  I told her she looked like the taliban and they might thing she was trying to bomb our local 5k. If… Read More

Our {love} story: the rehearsal dinner

July 23, 2010 It will go down in history of one of my favorite days of all time. I’ll start from the beginning and then let pictures tell the story. {Feeling lost already?  You can catch up here!} Friday morning Several of my bridesmaids, my aunts, grandmothers and mom went to the reception location to decorate and setup.  {I had my to-do lists with me, of course.}  I can remember being excited and anxious at the same time.  Excited because I had been dreaming about this day for seven months.  And now it was only one day away.  Anxious because… Read More

Black is the new black

Black on black is so… sophisticated, glamorous, versatile, Kardashian-esque.   I know you’re soooo surprised to see my black ankle boots again.  I can’t help it.  I’m in love with them. And I’ve started watching Hallmark Christmas movies.  {It’s not too early, is it?}  One character inspired me to do the part in the middle thing.  I’ve contemplated it before but never taken the leap.  But yesterday I just… bam, decided that was the day to go for it.  I really liked how it gave my hair a different look and took all of 3.4 seconds.  That’s my kinda change-up.… Read More

Friday favs

I’m keeping this short and sweet today because everyday this week has felt like it should be  Friday.  And it’s finally here! We have this Supper Club tradition going.  {Have I told y’all about that?}  So Saturday was our turn to host.  I made chili, David made cornbread.  The boys watched football.  {Ok I watched some too because it was UT}.  We just spent some time together.  It was glorious. #butweforgotthepicture #ugh #storyofmylife  Sunday funday!  We’re the most boring people ever on Sundays.  But not this week!  My little brother is playing college basketball and we got to see… Read More
