Weekending: the laid-back edition

Typically, our weekends are anything but laid-back.  I like to go and see and do on the weekends since there’s no time for it Monday-Friday.

But during basketball season, it’s nice to just have some down time since we don’t get it.

Friday night was started off with two wins!  Mom and dad made the drive to come watch and then we went grab some Japanese.  We had great conversation and it was fun to have them here for a bit.  By 10:00 we were all yawning.

Our original plan for the weekend was to pack up Saturday morning and hit the road, headed for Chapel Hill to finally catch a game live.  Somehow we’ve made it past Christmas and we haven’t been to a game.  This is most definitely a first.

I guess grad school and our basketball girls are getting in the way of that.

But when David talked to Eric on Thursday night and we found out he would have the whole weekend tied up, we decided to take a rain check on the visit.  As much fun as it would have been to go and see the game and our nephews, it was nice to have an unscheduled day.  When was the last time that happened?

So we slept in, watched a movie, did a little tiny bit around the house and watched the Heels on TV.  Even though we weren’t there in person, it was a great game!

Nothing like a game-winner by your favorite player after he sprained his ankle.

I also did a little bloggy blog stuff.  Which is basically my fav thing ever.
{I’m pretty proud of my new tabs – Connect and Two ways to wear – at the top and the updated button.  If you’re reading this through the email subscription, you should probably click over to the real thing today.}

It’s all a work in progress.

David grilled chicken for dinner – which made me really miss summertime.  And then we went to hang with Scott and Sarah and watch the first half of the Panthers game.  I mean, you can’t expect us to stay up late after the crazy day we had.  Duh.

Sunday was filled with a little cleaning, a little redecorating, lots of laundry and for the first time in my career, I went to school on a Sunday afternoon to grade.  Because there was just no way it was going to get done by Wednesday.

{Sorry for the lack of pictures.  I told you it was lazy.}

We also went to dinner with the Supper Club crew to plan our next few months.  But even there, I forgot a picture.  I might possibly be the worst blogger of all time.  But since I don’t have one from last night, here’s the crew from this summer.

How was your weekend?  I’m hoping for a less chaotic week than the last.

    • It was a good one for sure. It just went by too fast!

  • Haha I have 3 crappy Instagram pictures on my recap so don’t feel bad. I am totally missing summer. I was just wondering the other day if it’ll ever be 70 again.

    • I don’t know what it is about pictures but I forget to take them all the time. I’m ready for the summertime schedule #teacherlife

  • Laid back weekends are the best! I feel like I’m running around nonstop during the week so it is so nice to be able to relax on the weekends. We didn’t leave the house too much this weekend but unfortunately our reason was because I wasn’t feeling well. Not the type of “relaxation” I had in mind. lol

    • Oh no! Girl, I hate to hear that. I really hope you start feeling better soon!

  • Congratulations on your team’s wins! So exciting! Thanks for linking up today.

    • I knowww! One day it’ll be warm again in NC. But for now, I’ll take all the delays I can get.

  • Hi Claire!
    I found your site through Erin’s link up, and after clicking around your blog a bit, I have to say I am in LOVE with your concept of the “Two Ways to Wear” series. It’s so fun seeing 2 different women style the same item. Love it!
