Things I want to remember about the second trimester

Most importantly, it’s not the first trimester.  {Where are the emojis on my laptop?  Because I need the hands clapping one and the heart eyes.  Come on, Apple.}

Oh second trimester, how I love you.  Yes, you came with some of your own challenges but I prefer you to the first trimester any day of the week.  During this stretch, I didn’t have to ask David, “Will I ever feel like myself again?”  Baby Girl is making herself so much more visible but I think I can handle that.

Favorite moments include…

+ learning we were having a Baby Girl
+ feeling her move all the time
+ watching my stomach roll while she has dance parties in there
+ discussing names, even if it is a lot of pressure
+ noticing how quickly time seemed to pass
+ searching Pinterest for nursery inspiration and then seeing it start to come to life
+ daydreaming about what she’ll be like as a newborn, toddler, little girl, teenager

Not so favorite moments include…

+ bending over to pick something up
+ breathing – she really likes my lungs
+ getting carsick when we travel
+ sleeping less at night
+ extremely dry skin

Although there a few things that have been learning curves, I’ve loved feeling so bonded to her during this second trimester.  I feel like I’m starting to have the tiniest glimpse of a mother’s love.  Just feeling her tiny hands and feet move is the sweetest thing in the world.     I can’t wait to kiss her little cheeks and grab her tiny fingers and get to see all of her facial expressions.

Oh Claire, what a cute outfit!! That kimono is a gorgeous one!! The 2nd tri is the BEST!!! You’re in the home stretch girl!!! And you’re looking spectacular!!!! xo

    • It’s just starting to hit me HOW close we are to the end! I love how I can layer this kimono even in the warm weather.

  • You look great pretty mama! 2nd trimester sounds so much better. Hoping it stays that way for you!

  • ALL THE HEART EYE EMOJIS. Seriously SO much better than the first!

    • Seriously, didn’t you just want to scream or throw a party when you realized you were starting to feel like yourself again?

  • Love this post! So glad to hear you’re feeling much more like yourself, hope you continue to enjoy this time leading up to baby girl’s arrival <3

    • Now that I’ve been out of the first tri for a while, it’s hard to imagine how I ever made it through some of that. So thankful to be on to the fun stuff.

The second trimester was always my favorite with both of my kids. I wish kimonos had been in style when I was pregnant, what a great look you have going on here!

    • I love that kimono because I feel like I can wear layers earlier in the season since it’s so lightweight.

  • The second trimester is pretty awesome. And I agree with you, a big part of it is that it’s not the first trimester any more, haha!

I loved the extra energy, the ability to see and feel baby moving around, it was a great time. Glad it’s been mostly positive for you too! :)

    • Oh my gosh, it’s been amazing. I wouldn’t trade it for anything… now I just need the third to be the same way!

  • Lovin’ that baby bump & your outfit is perfect. You’re gonna be such a hot mom!

  • Aweee! I cannot wait for her to be in your arms. The second trimester is a fun time and one I enjoyed immensely. The third has some challenges but for me it wasn’t terrible and I bet for you it will not be either. Now let me say this: bending over with a “permabasketballbelly” is always a complaint and maybe some lower back pain here and there. Yay for baby girl!

    • Yeah, I can only imagine that bending over becomes more and more fun as the time goes by. It’s crazy that she’ll be here in 11 weeks… ish.

  • You are looking great! The 2nd trimester really is the best. I’m starting to get into the “this is just darn uncomfortable all the time” stage of pregnancy which is not so fun… Ha. But worth it in the end! We are getting so close to meeting our babies!

You look amazing! Your outfit is amazing too. Can’t wait for you to meet sweet baby girl! xo, Champagne&Suburbs
