Weekending | David’s birthday edition

This weekend’s alternate title would be the laziest weekend in recent memory.  It’s exactly what David said he wanted.  We basically watched movies – one he picked and one I did.  {Can you guess which was which?}

Friday we went to dinner with David’s family and since our nephews were in town it was an added bonus.  They came back to our house for some cake and of course we found a little time to shoot some hoops.

On Saturday morning David had to take an exam so I did a little cleaning and bought two hats for this summer.  Here’s to hoping they get here in time for our first beach trip!  Then we watched a few shows and Unbroken.  He watched all of it, I made it about halfway through.

Our Sunday routine doesn’t get altered very often.  Church, lunch and nap are hard to beat.  We did throw a second movie and he decided he wanted Texas Roadhouse for dinner.

  • Sounds like a perfectly relaxing weekend!! What did you think of the Best of Me, it’s been on my list for a while!! Hope you have a great Monday! xo, Biana- BlovedBoston

    • I read the book last summer and didn’t know it was a movie. When we were flipping through red box, I was like WE HAVE TO GET IT. It was good – the typical Nicholas Sparks rip your heart out kind of movie. But I enjoyed it. I love sad movies and David hates them so he kept saying, “Why did you make me watch this?” He likes everything to have a happy ending.

  • Haha I love that panda meme! I loved the movie “The Best of Me”. Sounds like you had a super relaxing weekend! Have a great week

    • I did too but it was so sad! But I love sad movies :)

  • I really want to see Unbroken! I rented The Best of Me a few weeks ago and completely didn’t expect it to be that sad. I was crying my eyes out at the end!

    • The first half of Unbroken was good – can’t really speak to the second half. Fell asleep :-0. I was sobbing during The Best of Me. I had read it so long ago that I didn’t remember the part about Dawson accidentally killing Bobby.

  • Sounds like a great weekend! That panda was totally me this morning :) Happy Monday! -Dorrie @ Bear Den Plantation

    • Ha, me too! Mondays are so difficult!

  • I swear the weekends go by WAY too quick! Sounds like you had a nice relaxing one though! Happy Monday!

    • They really do! Sometimes a relaxing weekend makes the week a little more bearable.

  • This sounds like the best type of weekend! What did you think of Best of Me? So much was changed from the book that it almost was a different story happy Monday!

    • I read the book over a year ago so I had a hard time remembering the details. I have a terrible memory. I remember the big things and that it was sad but beyond that, I barely remembered anything.

  • Was The Best of Me good? I read the book but haven’t seen the movie yet.

    • I’ve heard a lot of people say the movie changed a lot but since I read it so long ago, I didn’t remember a lot of the details.

  • Oooo I love Texas Roadhouse. I could go there just for those rolls! lol! My husband and I always make plans to watch a movie together after Paige goes to bed but we end up being too tired to watch anything or we settle on just one episode of a tv show on Netflix. haha! We’re old like that! haha

    • Yeah, one tv show is more like it. I can handle that. And yes, I can practically smell the rolls right now!!

  • I had some serious Sunday weekend being over depression last night!!! It just wasn’t long enough right?!?!

  • Sounds like a fabulously fun weekend. Glad I found your sweet Blog to follow!!!

  • I am always like that about the weekend! Now it’s like, weekend-please hurry up and get here!

    • Amen. Two days feel so short during the weekend and then so long during the week.

  • Weekend birthday celebrating is the best! You are the best wifey and happy belated birthday to your man!

  • Oh I wish I could have a weekend like that! Our weekend are so jam packed with stuff. I feel like it never ends. ~Cynthia

    • Thats how ours feel a lot of the time but we’ve been trying to take time to enjoy life and sometimes say no to things that just take up space in our life!

  • Happy Birthday to David! What flavor cake did you all have? Was either movie any good? Love you funnies! Thanks for linking up on Monday!

    • We had a cookie cake and yes, both movies were good. Well, technically I only made it halfway through Unbroken but that was just because we started it so late, not because I didn’t enjoy it.

  • Perfect weekend! Sounds like you and David had the best birthday weekend for him! I love that meme about the movie. So true! Hope you’re enjoying your week. Tomorrow is your Friday, right?

    • Basically. We had a workday on Friday but I can handle that!
