Ask Claire what to wear

Happy Monday morning, friends!  {Yes, that may be the only time you ever hear me say “happy” in front of Monday morning.  But two-day work weeks do crazy things to me.}

And… I’m blogging in front of this festive view.

christmas tree 2014

{But it looks way better on instagram because of the cool filters.}

So if I don’t have 5 posts up this week it’s because I decorated.  And watched basketball.  And football.  And I’m gonna enjoy some downtime while celebrating Thanksgiving with the family.

But I do have more than just ramblings for today.

I was thinking of pretending that I’m actually a style guru.  I know, it’s laughable.  But here are some style questions answered.

1.  Will this look work with black ankle boots?

 {Just for a point of reference, she has some very similar to the ones I wear all the time.}

Yes!  What a great hipster look that pushed me outside of my box a little.  Since I couldn’t find any pictures on Pinterest that I really like, I decided to take my own.

I didn’t anticipate liking this look as much as I do.  It’s  a good way to make a look a little bit more casual.  It’s also good for colder temps if you’re worried about your ankles freezing!

2. Can I pull off these pants?

blue pinterest pants

Yes!  Wear them!  They’re practically yoga pants that you can wear to an event. #doesntgetanybetterthanthat

But… you’ve got to wear heels with them.  It’s a must.  A requirement.  Impossible to get around this “rule”… and I’m not big on fashion rules.

If you don’t, you’re going to look like you should have been at the gym instead of a party.  I would also suggest something else that’s high fashion.  If you’re a lipstick girl, incorporate a red or deep plum.  {I’m not a lipstick girl so… you won’t see that here.}  Another idea is to incorporate a necklace.  You also want to make sure your shirt isn’t a long length or overly baggy because you’ll look like you’re in pajamas.

If you really want to take this look up a notch, make sure your pants are high waisted and then pair them with a crop top that shows an inch of your midriff.  But they absolutely HAVE to be high waisted.  You don’t want to come off looking like Britney Spears.

3. I bought these boots online.  Now how do I wear them?

Endless possibilities here!  These are a few of my favorite looks from Pinterest.

You really can’t go wrong with neutral wedges!  These are all slightly different but still wearable with tons of outfits.

What do you think?  Is this how you’d style these 3 pieces?

    Claire, I thought about you decorating this weekend cause I wanted to put our tree up too. Granddaddy said, “Absolutely not”, so I called him “Scrooge” and will wait till after Thanksgiving. Love your tree. It is beautiful. Enjoy it for a long time now. GM
