The busy girl’s guide to homemade laundry detergent

Way back when, I posted about a few easy things I do to save money.  Homemade laundry detergent has been on that list for about a year.  It’s honestly something I never thought I would do because it sounds complicated.

{Newsflash: it’s not.}

It takes about 10 minutes to make and it lasts for more than a month.

I started realizing that even buying the big jugs at Sam’s didn’t last us very long.  So I did a little research on Pinterest and found that it was something I could tackle.  My mom decided to jump on board, too.  She actually bought me all the ingredients {can you call them ingredients when they’re not going in food?} for my first batch.

Best part about it?  The only thing I’ve had to purchase is additional Gain Fireworks beads.  In over one year!

So yes, this saves lots of cash.  But it will save even more if you can talk your mom into trying it and she’s super nice {like mine} and buys you everything you need to get started.

{Thanks, mom!}

  • OMG so doing this. I buy the cheapo crap that 1) doesn’t last us very long and 2) I have to supplement with the beads for scent anyway. Oh girl I’ll definitely be buying all of this and giving it a whirl! Thanks for sharing!

    • Dooooooo it! And then let me know what you think. My mom texted me today after reading this and said she started making dishwasher detergent a couple weeks ago so I may try that next.
