July 23, 2010
It will go down in history of one of my favorite days of all time.
I’ll start from the beginning and then let pictures tell the story.
{Feeling lost already? You can catch up here!}
Friday morning
Several of my bridesmaids, my aunts, grandmothers and mom went to the reception location to decorate and setup. {I had my to-do lists with me, of course.} I can remember being excited and anxious at the same time. Excited because I had been dreaming about this day for seven months. And now it was only one day away. Anxious because we had a lot to accomplish.
{Side note: how did we manage to leave without a single picture? #fail}
Friday afternoon
We pampered ourselves and got manis and pedis.
Friday late afternoon
After getting our nails done, we got back to my parents house and plopped on the couch. As soon as we did that, we realized we needed to leave in about ten minutes to head to the church for the rehearsal. So we brushed our hair, threw our dresses on and brushed our lips with gloss and rushed out the door.
It was a non-stop day. Exciting, but exhausting at the same time, ya know?
Friday evening
I was so focused on all the details for Saturday, the wedding day, that I never stopped to think about the rehearsal and dinner. And all of a sudden, it was here.
And it was such a special time with the people who are closest to us. Of course the wedding day was incredible, from start to finish. But there was something intimate about Friday night. Not 200 people, but 35. {Or maybe 50. I have no idea.} But regardless of the number, we were surrounded by our families and best friends… who are practically family.
Friday night
We laughed.
We cried.
We hugged.
We toasted.
We laughed more.
We looked forward to tomorrow.
As much fun as the entire evening was, there’s one part that will always stand out in my memory.
As we were all leaving the restaurant that evening, it was chaotic. David was headed to the hotel, I was headed back to mom and dad’s. Somehow we left without saying bye to each other. He called me and all I remember about the phone call was that he said, “Hey babe. I just want you to know that I’ve never been more sure of anything in my life.”
I melted.
Because I felt the exact same way.
And in other news, thank you to all our veterans. I’m already enjoying the day off work!
And don’t forget about thankful Thursday coming up again this week!
