Goals for the new year

via 2014 has come and gone.  And I’m excited for the new adventures of 2015! I’m really into lists because they keep me on track.  This year, thanks to blogland, I learned the effectiveness of writing monthly goals. So… for the last few days, my brain has been casually tossing around some goals.  And none seemed to “click.”  Until I read Chelsea’s 6 questions to ask yourself first. And then it just all came together. What is one thing in my control that I want to be different next year?  Rolling with the punches. via I’m a planner.  I like… Read More

2014 | A year in review

There are some things I have really enjoyed since I’ve entered the blogworld.  One such thing, is making my monthly lists.  But over the past few weeks, I’ve also noticed that bloggers review their year.  So I’ve been excited to join in and do the same. {January} We rang in the new year with Katrina and Angelo. Every night we hang out with them is great.  But it was the first year since 2009 {our first in Newton} that we didn’t spend NYE with Scott and Sarah.  I’m excited to hang out with both couples on Wednesday night.  A low… Read More

“You have the whole driveway.”

Ariana and I are playing outside with two friends: one who’s three and one who’s six months. The 6-month-old is in my lap while Ari and her friend explore the front yard. I’m carefully keeping the little one in the shade. The two bigger girls are enjoying the warm sun shining down after spending most of the morning inside eating goldfish. Now that we’re outside, they pop the bubbles as I blow a new gust their way. The little one in my lap gazes at the iridescent circles floating toward the big girls. “Won’t be long until you join them,” I… Read More

Back to school rambling from a former teacher

Back to School

These two photos popped up on Timehop this morning. After almost seven years in the classroom, this month marks the first time in 25 years that I’m not going back to school. I have no excuse to indulge in a new outfit, a new set of colorful pens, or prepare for a new batch of kids in room 309. My life now consists of workout gear and no makeup. My hair is almost never not in a top knot. A few months ago, I was covered in spit-up and now it’s drool or leftover strawberries from breakfast. In the last 9 months,… Read More

Summer bucket list update

Since we’re officially back to work today, here’s a little update of the things that got done around here this summer.  It was very productive but it turned out a little differently than my summer bucket list had in mind.  Let’s take a look back… >>Switch the guest room, clean out the office and start on the nursery. We got the majority of this done in one weekend thanks to my mom and sister spending an entire Saturday refinishing furniture.  And then when the guys came home from playing golf, they moved everything around for us… more than once. >>Catch… Read More

9 ways to simplify your life

Simplicity is so elusive, yet we’re all attempting to grasp it.  Here’s my must-have simplify your life list. 1. List it up.  Make a list of the things you need to do so you’re not worried about forgetting something. 2. Have a glass of wine. 3.  Celebrate victories.  But don’t wait until something big happens… celebrate a productive day, a compliment from a coworker, your favorite team’s big win.  After all, little victories are victories too. 4.  Heyyyy bestie.  Talk to your best friend.  It’ll make you feel more connected and {hopefully!} make you laugh. 5.  Have a  glass of… Read More
