Ari,

Hey Girl. Someone asked me recently if I could believe you were almost a year old. And no, I can’t. But at the same time, I can’t believe that you weren’t with us this time last year. It’s funny how time does that.

You’ve decided you hate-hate-hate your carseat unless I’m stuffing your face with crackers. It makes me carefully analyze if we actually need to go wherever it is that we’re supposed to go. Some days it’s just not worth it but when we do get to our destination, you come out grinning and waving to your (typically non-existent) fan club.

You and Copper are best of friends. You yell at him, climb on him, talk to him, give your toys to him, and pat him. Getting Copper from his crate is your favorite moment of each day. You squeal with delight and dance in my arms. Even when you’re violent with him, he just lays there and lets you play. When he’s been outside and comes inside too hyper, you just duck your head and wait to see what he’ll do.

You’re a huge fan of the dishwasher. It’s progressed from sitting next to the dishwasher, to sitting in the dishwasher, to standing on the dishwasher and grabbing things from the top rack. I thought it was fairly normal for kids to play in the dishwasher but everyone who comes over just laughs about how funny you are. I’m not sure what it is about being surrounded by all those glass dishes (and the metal spoons to hit on said glass dishes) but nowhere else in our house makes you that consistently happy. When you’re fussy, I often pull the dishwasher open and all your troubles melt away. (It’s especially helpful when I’m trying to prepare a meal.)

You’re just a month away from your birthday and it blows my mind that November 15th will be here before we know it. In the meantime, I’m enjoying timehop pictures of my huge belly from this time last year. It’s crazy to think of the millions of ways you’ve changed in less than a year. I think my heart has grown that much, too.

I love you so much,

Mom
