The ramblings of a pregnant girl + our weekend

Isn’t it funny how time changes our priorities?

Friday mid-morning I wasn’t feeling the greatest.  I thought that would go away once I ate lunch.  No such luck.  I mean… I am 38 weeks pregnant so not feeling well isn’t too far out of the ordinary.  I ended up coming home from work at going straight to my bed to cozy up in for a nap.  Then David brought dinner home and I fell back asleep.  By the time I woke up again, it was probably 7:30.  And although I wasn’t feeling fabulous, I felt good enough to get some things checked off my never-ending to do list.

I had been checking out Pinterest and talking to other mamas to find out the best things to bring to the hospital and I had a few piles going, but it felt really good to get it all organized and in bags.  I also have a list of the last minute things that can’t be packed ahead of time… like phone chargers.

There would have been a time {not that long ago, either} when I would have been really bummed about not doing anything fun on a Friday night.  But this past weekend?  Ah, it was glorious.  I don’t know if it’s because I’m pregnant or old or a combination, but I loved it.  See?  Priorities change.  {And I have a feeling they’re about to change even more…}

In addition to priorities changing… my sleep habits have changed dramatically.  Instead of sleeping from when I put my head on the pillow to about 8am {pre-pregnancy}, I now consider it a success only wake up 4 times to pee.  And it’s a special edition when I can fall right back to sleep after hitting up the bathroom.

Now, I wake up at 5am {at the latest} and eat something.  Usually, I can fall back asleep after eating but I wake up so hungry!  A few times, I’ve headed to the kitchen to grab a bowl of cereal at 3am.

On Saturday, I slept in and then we took my car to get it detailed.  This was one of those things that I had said I wanted to get done before Baby Girl gets here but it had kind of slipped my mind.  Thankfully, David remembered and got the appointment scheduled.  Because there’s no way me and my big belly were climbing around with the vacuum cleaner getting all the dog hair out of the back seat.

Poor puppy.  His car-riding days are over and so are his snuggling on the sofa days.  He’s deprived.

We spent the rest of Saturday watching football and getting a few other things done around the house.  And we feasted on taco soup.  Gosh, I love that stuff.

On Sunday, I made another soup recipe in hopes that we can have a few nights of leftovers this week.  An easy, white chicken chili recipe coming to the blog soon!

We were planning to grab lunch with Kenzie as she was driving through and then Mom and Dad decided to come too.  Mom said they had to “practice the drive to see Baby Girl.”  We’ve lived here for 6+ years but I have a feeling they might be making a few more trips than they used to.  And speaking of lunch… I’m pretty sure Outback cheese fries will be in heaven.

There also would have been a time when I would have forced myself to write about our weekend on Sunday night so that it could go live first thing on Monday morning.  Since I just wasn’t feeling it Sunday night, I decided to watch a Christmas movie instead.

In all fairness, the title did warn you that this was a lot of rambling.

  • Bless your heart. 2 babies later I still get up to pee sometimes and cannot sleep late because my bladder hates me! Can I say I am in love with your dog? I’ve been wanting one for a couple years now (like that). Have a good Thursday, sweet mama!
