A letter to Baby Girl at 30 weeks

Baby Girl,

The thought of meeting you in less than three months is so exciting.  I often wonder what facial expressions you’ll make.  Will you get the hiccups as much once you’re born as you do while you live in my belly?  Will you be a good sleeper or will you wake up at all hours of the night?

Every time I feel you move, I just imagine you saying, “Hi, Mom!”  It’s your way of telling me everything’s ok.  When the days at work are busy and I finally get to sit down at my desk at the end of the day and I feel you kick, it brings the biggest smile to my face.

Oh, Baby Girl, I can’t wait to see your daddy with you.  He’s going to have so much fun learning every little thing about you!  I can just imagine him rocking you to sleep and kissing your head.  He’ll probably overthink everything in an effort to always make sure you’re always as comfortable as possible.  He’s going to have so much fun taking you to basketball games and going fishing… two things he’s already talking about!  You may have to teach him a thing or two about girls because that’s kind of a foreign concept to him.

I know there’s so many things that you’ll teach all of us.  I’m trying to learn to be more flexible because I know you’re going to come out ready to rule the schedule!  What will Christmas be like this year?   I remember last Christmas was spent relaxing and coaching basketball.  I’m thinking this one may take on a new normal.

What a privilege it has been to have you with me for the last 30 weeks.  Here’s to 10 or 12 more and then getting to know you in an entirely new way.  Baby Girl, you are truly our greatest adventure already.

Love,
Mom

I remember feeling little hiccups inside me when I was pregnant both times! Christmas with a newborn is so, so fun. My daughter was only a month old for her Christmas.

    • 1 month is about what Baby Girl will be for her first Christmas! And she seriously gets the hiccups like 3 times a day… it’s unreal!

  • Love this! Enjoy all those kicks and rolls. I miss them so much. And seeing your hubby with her will make you love him all that much more!!!

    • I’m so excited to see David with her. It’s one of the things I’m looking forward to more than anything!

  • Aww, what a lovely letter! I hope you give it to your daughter when she is older :)

I too liked those little kicks and punches, I thought I’d miss them more than I did, but I guess getting adorable little kicks and punches from the baby you’re snuggling in your arms as they get used to their limbs makes you forget about the earlier ones! :)

    • When I first started feeling all the little movements, I feel like I got a glimpse into “a mother’s love” because how can a kick really bond you that much? But it does! I can’t wait to see them all :)

I had to mentally prepare myself to read this. It’s so sweet! I can’t wait for her arrival! xo

    • I got several texts from family members saying how it made them cry; yet when I wrote it, it just all came out so naturally. Then I went back to re-read it after several texts and cried! These hormones do weird things to a girl!

  • TEARS. All the tears. Cannot wait to meet you Baby Girl!!!
