Weekending + the diary of a {pregnant} girl with nothing to wear

Don’t hate me, but Mondays are a little more bearable in the summer.  #teacherlife  Today I’m planning to get a few things done around the house, maybe tune into a little of The Open and then head to Greenville to do a furniture swap with my sister.  {Side note: I texted my dad yesterday morning to ask when this golf tournament became known simply as The Open instead of The British Open.  Anybody else a Jordan Spieth fan?}

On Friday, I tried a new and somewhat made-up recipe for dinner.  And considering we ate the leftovers yesterday and today, I’ll go ahead and call it a success.  Recipe to come soon.   David’s brother and his family came into town so we dropped by to see Brady & Jackson for a bit after dinner on Friday.  They’re at such fun ages and have so much personality.  As soon as Jackson saw me, “Find Dafe.”  I just love how he says Dafe.

Saturday started off a little lazy, the way any good Saturday does.  Once we got going, we began tackling our biggest project of the summer.  We’ve been cleaning out closets and rooms upstairs for the last two or three weeks.  But we also have a large portion of our basement that’s unfinished for storage.  It was one of the selling features when we bought our home five years ago.  But holy junk, the stuff we’ve accumulated in that time.  And not just accumulated, but we haven’t kept it organized.  So it’s pretty much a disaster zone.  We spent the majority of the day working on it.  We got so much done but it’s one of those projects that we barely made a dent in because there’s just so much to do.  One step at a time, right?

I have no idea how we managed to see our nephews two nights in a row and not snap a single picture but we did.  Live in the moment, I guess.  And we watched Taken 3.  When David mentioned it, I was thinking maybe we should go back and watch Taken 1 and 2 again so I didn’t feel lost but I decided to just go with it and ask him a million questions if I was lost.  I’m a great movie partner.  Even though I haven’t seen the first two in forever, I wasn’t lost at all.  I think this one may have been my favorite.

And I’m a happy girl anytime I carve out a few minutes to make this happen.

On Sunday morning I did a little bit of journaling in my Belly Book.  After we ate muffins, that is.  Yes, David spoils me because he makes them for me on the reg.  {Speaking of The Belly Book… early on in my pregnancy, I kept thinking that I needed to be writing things down but I didn’t really know what to write down or where to start so I just never did.  And then Amy gave me this book and it’s perfect because it asks a few questions here and there but mostly it just provides space to document a weekly paragraph.  And picture which I never do and yes, I realize that I’ll look back one day and wish I had taken weekly pictures.  But hey, I did manage to get one in today!}

After all that journaling and muffin eating, I started getting ready for church.  After trying on every dress in my closet, I finally came to the conclusion that all my “regular” dresses fall into one of these categories:

>>belted or gathered at the natural waist #notanoption
>>has an empire waist, but also has a side zipper #wontzipalltheway
>>not belted or gathered so it “fits” but I suddenly look like oomph loompa #notthegoal

Here’s the mess I made in order to make those discoveries.

It’s officially time to shop for maternity clothes.  Thank you ASOS and Ross for having affordable maternity clothes.  Because I went on a little shopping spree.  Is it possible to have an affordable, attractive pregnancy wardrobe?  #thatISthegoal

The rest of Sunday was filled with things like laundry, loading furniture and adding Disqus to my comment forum.  {I hope it worked so I can actually start responding to these things!}  Oh, and we did manage another Parenthood episode.  Netflix for the win.  Bravermans for the win.

How was your weekend?  Summer, I need you to slow down just a little.  That’s the only thing I would change!

    Wow, this time is flying, cannot believe it’s time for maternity clothes. It is so frustrating when there is nothing to wear. You will rock that maternity gear like crazy. Your nails look so pretty. I have not seen the 3rd Taken but I love them, so I know what husband and I are watching this weekend. I kept a journal when I was pregnant too, you will love going back and looking at it in the years to come! Happy Monday gorgeous!!

    • I’m glad the pregnancy has picked up speed but I could go for summertime to slowdown just a little!!! I’m glad to have this journal to look back on – it’ll be fun to compare when baby #2 comes along. Happy Monday ✌️

  • So glad to hear Taken 3 was good! I normally don’t like sequels as much, but love the Taken series!

    I’ve still only seen the first Taken. I have that OPI color & I love it. I love your accent nail too.

    • Thanks, Bri. I found the OPI polish at TJ Maxx for $2.99 so I knew it had to come home with me. So far it’s stayed on really well, too!

  • Darcy

    Love your mani! I always love dedicating some time to pampering myself on the weekends!

    • I used to paint my nails once or twice a week so they were always manicured but I’ve kind of gotten out of the habit in the last couple of months. It’s one of my favorite things to do for myself.

  • I remember the moment I realized my clothes wouldn’t do the job anymore. Then it was Motherhood and that place is crazy expensive for temporary wear. They tried to say I could wear it all post pregnancy…haha that’s funny. If you need extra material in the front OK but otherwise nope! Hey hey I made zucchini muffins this weekend :) I guess you should have a yard sale girl…I see all that stuff and I’m like oh, man I’d sale it! LOL

    • Some of the prices I see for maternity clothes makes my jaw drop. I like to think of myself as a smart shopper to begin with so when I know I’m only wearing things for a few months, I’m definitely not spending $75 on a pair of pants!

  • Loving that nail color! And yay for affordable and fashionable maternity clothes! Can’t wait to see your upcoming maternity fashion posts :)
    Have a fabulous week gurlie <3

    Oh no! Sorry to hear you’re having a hard time finding things to wear but I’m sure you’ll find a ton of cute maternity stuff! Love that nail polish too! So pretty!

    • I was trying to stretch my regular clothes as far as possible. I still have some shirts that fit but when it came to dresses… it was just not working. At all. Oh well, guess that just means its time to shop, right? I can handle that!

  • Anna D Kart

    I ask my husband a million questions about movies too! he hates it hahahah!

    I wish the summer would slow down after the baby is born, right now i need the time to hurry up and take me into labor ha!

    Happy Medley

    • Girl, I feel ya on that. When my due date is close I know I’ll feel the same way! Here’s to labor vibes coming your way!

  • hahaha I’m constantly asking questions or making jokes when my husband and I watch movies too. Or I will try to guess the ending. LOL! Worst movie partner ever right here. haha

  • Monica Siembieda
