June goals

Woah, remember when I used to do these updates monthly?  This was one of my favorite posts to do as a blogger.  It felt like it kept me on track to get some things done.  And then I got pregnant and if I would have written out monthly goals for April and May, it would have looked like this:

Just make it through each day.  That was my focus.  And I did!!  So now, I’m trying to check a few things off a list this month.  I mean, I’m not getting too crazy because we’re finishing up the school year now and then going on vacation at the end of the month but since I’m starting feel more and more like me, I figured I might as well get back to my monthly lists.

1.  Make a new recipe.  If I don’t include this goal, I tend to get stuck in the same meal rotation just because it’s easier.  This forces me to select a recipe – usually from Pinterest or a friend – and make it.  Very often, it gets added into the rotation so it’s a good way find new recipes in a  way that’s not overwhelming.

2.  Date night!  We do a lot together but we’re not always good at carving out time to go and do something fun just the two of us.  We get things done around the house or go run errands or even grab dinner on a regular basis.  But something fun?  We tend to skip that unless we’re with others an the plans are already made.  But around this time of the year, one of our favorite things to do is grab food and head out to the lake in the late afternoon and stay until right before the sun goes down.  It’s so relaxing and we have some of the best conversation.  #andweusedtobringabottleofwine

3.  Prepare for next school year.  Because of the snow days earlier in the school year, we have a few extra work days to make up at the end of the year.  Usually, I struggle to be motivated during workdays at the end of the year… but no matter how unmotivated I feel, my goal is to get a few things ready ahead of time!

4.  Devotions every morning.  Apparently, all I have to do is make a list and leave it laying on the counter and David will help me with my goals.  He saw this sitting out last night and this morning he pulled out the devotional book and started reading it to me.

5.  Organize kitchen shelves.  A few years ago, David made me a mini mudroom right as you walk into our kitchen from the garage.  With baby on the way, there’s tons of stuff we need to organize and find a new home for.  Most of them are big projects so I know there’s no point to start them before summer gets here.  But I need to be more purposeful in that storage space so that is one thing I can do before we leave on vacation.  And I figured I’m much more likely to do it if it’s on here!

  • Well Claire, I think this is a great list! I love making lists and even if I don’t get all my goals accomplished the way I want them or each and everyone of them, at least I feel little bit better just making the list itself! Have a great day sweetie!

  • Great mix of goals. I like how you even incorporated fun in there too. Glad you’re feeling better xo

  • Oh girl yes. I used to make monthly goals EVERY MONTH and it made everything feel that much more focused and productive. I haven’t set them in AGES! I think I need to get back into them this month. I love that you would have just put “survive” for April and May. Pretty much how I feel on a regular basis and I’M NOT pregnant. What’s my excuse? :)

  • Can’t wait to see what recipe you decide on! xo, Biana –BlovedBoston

  • Love your list this month, I should totally co-sign each one :)

  • I should probably be a good friend and send you a few recipes. I mean I did just take a cooking class! :) Or maybe I’ll come cook for you and Dave can be on clean up duty…that was a key part of the class! https://thatwasnttheplan.wordpress.com/2015/06/02/salud

  • Good luck with your goals!

  • Great list! I have really been slacking at blogging in general, and I can’t remember the last time I did a goal post. I’m such a bad blogger lately. lol! I blame the warm weather and migraines! And definitely take advantage of those date nights while you can. They get harder once the little one comes
