Weekend recap!

This weekend was originally supposed to be spent in Greenville with Kaitlyn because she’s not much on the decision-making front.  So I was going to help her pick out stuff for her new house!

But some things didn’t work out on the timing end of that so we stayed around here.

In our world, Friday nights = basketball games.  And it was the last regular season game so my parents made the trip for the evening.  If I could just tell you how much fun I’ve had with these girls…

There were days when it was stressful because I didn’t have enough time to get everything done in my classroom.  And then I would get home late so I wouldn’t get everything done around the house.

But it has been so worth it.  These twelve girls have come together and made it their goal to improve every single day.  And they went out as conference champs.  Because they worked together.  Because they were committed.  Because they didn’t let setbacks define them.  Because they learned together.  Because they had fun.

Yesterday I was looking at the week ahead and it hit me that it’s over.  So I instagrammed it and got a little mushy.

But speaking of the week ahead… we’re forecasted to get some snow!  I may be the only teacher in this entire county that’s excited for some mid-week days off, but hey!  A little snow never hurt anyone.  And then we can go straight to 80 degrees!

Because of the cold temperatures and the wind, blog pictures just didn’t happen yesterday.  But I still have some fashion post ideas for this week!

Saturday was really laid back for us.  We made waffles for breakfast and drank mimosas.  Check that.  I drank one and a half mimosas.  David took one sip of his and said he didn’t like the champagne.

David made me dinner on Saturday night.  He made beef tips, macaroni, bread and potato skins.  And after all that handwork, I forgot to snap a picture.

I think it’s safe to say that I’ll never be on Meghan’s level.  Her weekend recaps always have the perfect food pictures.  The kind that make me hungry for all of it at 6am.

We watched two movies this weekend.  Both great movies that we had seen before but not in a long time.

This was my other Valentine during all the movie watching.

All in all, a great weekend!  And this week… check back for a review on Rodan + Fields mini facial!

  • I am stopping by via Molly’s blog hop and love your style! I am excited to see more! I love your series about two ways to wear an item!! We used to live in Spartanburg, and I think it sounds like you live close by there. I am excited to see more of your style! Blessings! Susan

    • Thanks for stopping by, Susan. I live near Hickory, NC and my sister is in Greenville, SC so we go there to visit often! Two ways to wear is my favorite thing about this blog so I always love it when someone else is into the idea! Hope you have a great Monday. Are they predicting snow there? It’s about to start falling here :)

Claire, Congratulation on being Conference Champs with your basketball team. Shows you led them well and inspired them to be all they could be. Way to go Girl! I know your dad parents were proud, esp. Dad.)

    • Thank you!! It has been a blast to work with the girls and of course it’s always fun to win! Mom came to three games and dad probably came to 5 or 6. It’s always fun to have them be a part of it!

  • Glad you had a good weekend! How do you not like Verdi?!?! Its like drinking juice in my opinion! Happy Monday girl!

    • Seriously? I didn’t complain though because then it meant I got to drink his! He’s crazy.

  • Sounds like such a great weekend and the meal that your hubby made does sound incredible even if there is no photographic evidence haha!! Congrats to your team on such a great season!! xo, Biana – BlovedBoston

    • So proud of my girls and they were so much fun to be with. How did I forget the picture? I always forget the picture. Ugh! Maybe next weekend!

  • Amy Ann

Sounds like a great weekend. I love a good mimosa!

    The Real Arnolds

    • Me too!! I’m not sure why I don’t make one more often. I think I’ll add it to the rotation :)

  • I love the Vow!! What a cute movie :)

    • I love anything with Channing Tatum. But I don’t really like how it ends. Like they just go to dinner. I want more. Does she fall back in love with him again? It just leaves way too many questions unanswered. But really cute movie.

  • That is so exciting to be conference champs! So awesome!
Girl, I am totally sending snow vibes your way this week… then 80 degree vibes right after that 😉 You can always come visit Arizona! It’s been 80 degrees and this next week’s forecast doesn’t show a change in this heavenly warmth!

  • Congratulations! That seems so fun! We got snow today and I am not happy about it because schools were cancelled, but of course no college classes were. I wish it would get warmer!

    • I’m ready for warm weather too but I want turn my nose up at a mid-week vacation. Especially after the grueling few months I’ve had!

  • Congratulations on being conference champs! I’m sure your girls are thrilled! Looks like you had an excellent weekend. Movies and mimosas sound like the perfect Valentine’s Day to me!

    • I’m so proud of my girls! And yes… we hadn’t had a movie weekend in a long time and after I made those mimosas, I kept asking myself why I didn’t do it more often.

  • I’m super sick of the snow around here…maybe you can have some of ours?! haha! It’s not the snow that has been the bad part, it’s the wind chill! I woke this morning and it was -4 degrees. Gross! Yesterday they said the wind chill made it feel like 20 below! I think it’s time for me to move! haha!

    • Oh my gosh, no kidding. It’s getting down to 4 degrees on Thursday and Friday and everyone around here is freaking out. We haven’t had any snow yet this winter and last year we had two big ones. I’m not as excited for the snow as I am for a few days “off” work.

  • That mimosa looks tasty! So exciting that your girls are conference champs! Yay for the possibility of snow, too!

    • We’ve gotten mostly ice so far {and not as much as they were predicting} but it’s enough to cancel school tomorrow so I already have a list of things that need to be done around here!

  • Jessica

haha your “Other Valentine” made me giggle! I remember I watched the vow in theaters when it was released for Valentine’s Day one year… I can’t remember the movie but I was sooo sick that day… definitely one of the worst Valentine’s days I have ever had haha!! I should really re-watch it since i feel much better now 😛

    • Yes! I’ll watch anything with Channing Tatum! I have a feeling you’ll have a better experience now. Although the end does leave me wanting a little more.

  • Looks like such a fun weekend! Congrats on such a fantastic season. Glad you enjoyed your weekend!

    • Thanks, Denise. It was so much fun to watch the girls develop! I had to go to work this morning but got sent home early with the threat of ice so now I’m taking advantage of an extra day to get things marked off my to-do list. That always makes a weekend that much more enjoyable, doesn’t it? :)

  • Brr that weather! I haven’t seen either of those movies in so long! Congrats to your girls!

    • Thanks! They’ve been a blast and I couldn’t ask for a better group. And yes – so cold. I know people in Boston and other snowy areas probably roll their eyes at me but that’s COLD for around here.

  • Those mimosas look amazing! Sounds like you had a lovely weekend!

    • They were delicious! {Both of them!}

  • Those mimosas look delish, I would have finished his too 😉

Fireproof is a great movie, H and I saw it when we were engaged and it was fantastic!

    • I love the message it sends about sticking together no matter what! Such a great reminder.

  • I live in NC too and you’re right, it’s COLD here! I’m originally from Pittsburgh and this is nothing like what I grew up in, but I’ve been here long enough that I’m used to the mild weather!

    • Where are you in NC? I think most people around here are annoyed by the snow but I’m loving this midweek day off!

  • Looks like my kind of weekend! I don’t know if I like staying in or going out more. There is time and place for everything. When we are running low on funds we simply make date night at home and put our son to bed early, eat lots of food and watch movies.
Also, that is not very cold at all! We just had -40F with windchil last Sunday and that was absolutely ridiculous I think!

Also congrats on the great season!

    • Staying in is more relaxing sometimes, too. My hubs loves to go out to eat but sometimes I’d just rather sit on my couch under a blanket! And you’re right, I know it’s not cold. But it was cold to me!!! :)
