five easy ways you can serve your man {for Valentine’s day}

Valentine’s Day is upon us and it just blows my mind that we’re already halfway through February.  To me, Valentine’s Day is kind of a ridiculous notion… every girl is supposed to consider it romantic to receive red roses on the exact same day as every other girl in the world.

Let me just go ahead and tell you that since David has yet to figure out/remember that Valentine’s Day is TOMORROW, there will be none of that around here.

Saturday night, we were at Scott and Sarah’s… The conversation went something like this…
Scott: What are y’all doing for Valentine’s Day?
Dave: When is it?
Everyone else: Laughter

Even after being told it was on Saturday, he told me two days ago he was going to a cookout at one of high school buddy’s homes.

Ok.  You know why?  Because he’s the real kind of romantic.  The one who helps with the dishes.  The one who has cooked dinner at least twice this week.  The one who calls to check on me.  The one who kisses me goodbye every morning when he leaves for work.  The one who takes me to dinner.  The one who buys me bracelets off of his living social app because he knows how much I love my arm candy.  The one who stops at the grocery story on his way home from work.  The one who takes me on weekend trips.  The one who coaches with me.  The one who watches the chick flicks with me.  The one who takes me on the lake in the summertime.

But even if you don’t celebrate Valentine’s Day like everyone else does, here are a few things you can do for your man.

ONE

make his favorite meal
#StrawberryPretzelSalad

TWO

watch a movie with him

THREE

do something that is usually his responsibility
#IGuessImTakingOutTheTrash

FOUR

write him a note telling him how much he means to you

FIVE

take him out to brunch or lunch
Zaxby’s, anyone?

If all this pink and red has you in the mood for a love story, here’s a really great one!

  • Gary loves to watch documentaries…I don’t…I may or may not have agreed to watch one with him lol! Hope you have a great weekend! xo, Biana – BlovedBoston

    • Awww, it’s true love!!! Hope your weekend’s been great!

  • Awww aren’t you guys adorable! We usually make V-Day dinner together. He grills and I make the sides. It’s been a tradition for years! Have a great weekend!

    • We did that our very first Valentine’s together. We had been on like 3 or 4 dates… he grilled and I made sides. I can’t even remember what they were now but it was a special time!

  • We were driving home from somewhere the other day (where? I can’t even remember) and as we were getting out of the car the radio mentioned valentine’s day. “When is it,” J asked. “February 14th…like it is ever year…” He just laughed, embarrassed. Sometimes we do vday up big, sometimes we crash on the couch. I like the holiday well enough, but it’s not a “must celebrate” in my book.

    • Haha, yessss! Glad to know David’s not the only one :) We’ve done a double date with some of our best friends before but this year it’s just been the two of us. Low key day… perfect contrast to our busy schedules!

  • We give each other presents on Valentine’s Day (gifts are one of my love languages), but they’re nothing big. I got him a bunch of dress shirts he needs for school, and he got me earrings from my favorite Etsy shop (though he picked them out himself so I haven’t seen them yet!). I agree with you that its the everyday things that matter-Chris does all of our laundry, and it is definitely one of the sweetest things to me. :)

    • Yes, girl. You know you’ve got a good man when he’ll pitch in around the house! David bought me a bracelet, a photo storage thing and a cooler… for our summer days on the lake! Well, all that and made me beef tips for dinner!! Hope you guys had a great day celebrating. Are you close to making your choice for where you’ll be next?

  • I’ve never been big into Valentine’s Day. Mostly because all of those things that you mentioned that he does for you, are way more important to me than a holiday set aside for pink, candy, & flowers.

    • Plus… who even likes those nasty heart candies? Haha!! Real love is all about every day life!

  • Awwwww this is seriously the sweetest post! Such a great reminder of being able to spend that quality time together!

    • Thanks, girl!! I’m all about that real-life love as opposed to flowers once a year.

  • So sweet! I always thought Valentine’s Day was so silly, but now that we have a little one all holidays seem more important. lol! I’m scrambling to get my husbands cinnamon sugar pecans that he loves done. lol I like to surprise him with sweet little gestures too

    • Yeah, I can see how that would make a difference!! Good luck with those pecans – I’m sure he’ll love it!!

  • We don’t really celebrate Valentine’s day. I think we may have a few years when we were dating. Neither one of us is much for it. Since I’m a teacher and now a mom, I get most of my thrill with decorating a classroom or having Valentine’s themed activities for my little one. Have a great one!!

    • Hope yours was great, too!! Ours was very low-key… just the way I like it!!

  • Awwww this is sweet! My husband has never been much on Valentine’s Day so it’s not really a big deal holiday around my home either. My husband is like “why do I need a day to tell you I love you?” Good stuff. I hope you have a wonderful weekend! :)

    • Haha!! He’s got a point though. As long as he shows it every day, then today is no different than any other day :)

  • Hysterical! I agree with this 100% but DG is a hopeless romantic. He doesn’t realize how much he does for me on a normal basis to make up for this silly day. So, I guess maybe my gift to him will be to tell him that! :) xoxo

  • That’s the perfect gift!

  • Aww that’s so sweet! I like the idea of serving instead of getting or making a gift. Definitely a good spin on what is normally done.
